WHY CHATTANOOGA IS KNOWN AS THE SCENIC CITY

​Chattanooga was recently named one of the ‘Top 45 places to go’ in the world. Calling it the scenic city is, therefore, no flimsy complement. Out of the four US destinations that were put on that list, Chattanooga was the only one outside of California. Chattanooga has received some pretty great reviews from travelers all over the world, praising it for its be0auty and adventures.
 
No longer is Chattanooga only known as the place to ‘See Rock City’ as it is now a revitalized destination filled with fun adventures for all ages and a rich culture. Visitors from all over the world flock to the city every year. We aim to find out exactly what makes Chattanooga the scenic city as it is avidly described. Here are just a few reasons:

The Great Outdoors

If you are an outdoor person, Chattanooga should definitely be on your bucket list for places to visit. The city’s outdoor activities are the biggest draw for young families and visitors. Lookout Mountain is a popular spot for many as it offers over 30 miles of hiking trails while allowing trekkers to experience the history of the city first hand. 

Visitors can see homesteads from the 19th century at Chickamauga Battlefield, visit the Battle Above the Clouds – a Civil War site at Point Park and view the limitless lands of Tennessee at Sunset Rock. If rafting is on your adventure list of things to do, the Ocoee River provides a world-class white water rafting adventure for everyone.

Even at night, you can still experience the outdoors with the different concerts that are held all year round. Miller Plaza, in the heart of town, holds outdoor concerts every Friday from May to September with local and international artists performing. All you have to do is grab a lawn chair and get ready for a night filled with great food, cold beer, and free music.

Family Fun

Creative Discovery Museum is the top place to go for family fun. Other than just viewing all the possible exhibits hosted within the museum, it offers several programs for kids and adults alike. From art and craft sessions to walks and tours within the museum.  The Bluff View Art District also offers a perfect place for family fun in a more relaxed, serene environment with an art gallery, great restaurants and a quaint B&B known as Bluff View Inn.

The Hunter Art Museum is also a place to visit with your family. It’s no longer just a Chattanooga fixture as it has been transformed into a modern landmark showcasing the progression of the city over the years.

The Lookout Mountain Incline Railway is an experience not to miss as it carries passengers from the top of Lookout Mountain down to Ruby falls, Kids will be in awe of what this natural landmark has to offer.

The city is home to great dining places that the whole family can enjoy such as the Chattanooga Tn Hotel and the Courtyard Chattanooga Downtown. To have a good meal, the Warehouse Row Nd the Tupelo Honey are great options.
